BREAKING: Oklahoma State star running back Ollie Gordon was arrested for DUI over the weekend south of OKC. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Gordon was going 82 in a 65mph zone. An affidavit says troopers found an open bottle of tequila and an open bottle of vodka in his car. pic.twitter.com/SJ6GVcbDlc

Immaturity and bad luck, a lethal combination…the fact that you’re a great football player just means that you’re a great football player.

I can put myself in the shoes of a top 0.1% athlete about as well as anyone else here, but after seeing Henry Ruggs throw away everything I can’t understand why you’d drink and drive.

Not bad luck, a very poor choice. Should it ruin his life, No. It should, however, teach him the importance of being more responsible. He it lucky that he only got caught. It could have been exponentially worse.

So. How does OSU deal with this? Seems like a large suspension is in order.
-
KnoblockerParticipant
He will run until he pukes and probably not start the first game.
-
UtesbyfiveParticipant
Not start?
For reckless endangerment like that? Pathetic. I have no sympathy with DWI. I hope he gets help, but it’s an unacceptable crime.
-
KnoblockerParticipant
Nah, man. 20-year-old kid made a mistake. Stupid stupid mistake, but it shouldn’t end his career. And he needs help with what?
-

Distracted drivers too! Fiddling with radio, texting… unacceptable. No second chance, lock up and throw away the key.

Needs to be more than a one game suspension and a gasser or two.
-
The Miami UteParticipant
Are gassers, or any other sort of physical punishment, still a thing? Seems like with the number of players that have died while training over the years, social media, the advent of BLM, etc…it would be a risky approach.

A stern talking to and miss the first series on offense is what I expect from Shady Gundy.
-
KnoblockerParticipant
You’re silly.
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
the nickname for Gundy, yes. Because any P4 coach worth his salt, when looking at OSU’s schedule, doesn’t sit Gordon for more than the 1st quarter against SDSU. Prime chance for a “good” win against the defending FCS champs and to get everyone ready for an SEC opponent week two.

I thought after Gundy’s comments yesterday, there’d be a new thread or new comments on this thread about it.
Essentially, his punishment was going to media day in Vegas and have to answer questions about it.

Sad to say that even what you suggested was too much.

UtesbyfiveParticipant
I’ve lost whatever respect I had for Mike Gundy over this.
