ParticipantMaybe it’s because I’ve never been much of a pro sports fan but I have zero interest in watching the NBA this year. A lot of it has to do with how political it is becoming (just like the NFL).

So players have to social distance on bench even though they have been in close contact and sweating during the game. Makes sense to me.

ParticipantStill reduces the risk of exposure overall, so it makes sense to me. Riding a motorcycle is dangerous and increases your risk of brain damage but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the precaution of erasing a basement.
Playing is but sitting close on the benchis more of a risk.

KeymasterIt will be interesting to see what quotes the players put on their jerseys, and what backlash will insue as a result.

ParticipantZero. And i was a fan. The social messaging on floors and unis that is limited to only liberal messaging is too much to stomach.

ParticipantOther people’s opinions is too much for you to stomach? Seems about right.

ParticipantActually, if you read his post, it is the lack of other people’s opinions that bothers him.

ParticipantSince the players have largely benefitted the most from a systemically racist and privileged system I must not watch them. This would only reinforce my privilege as a white person.

ParticipantI don’t care about political messaging, so that’s not a factor for me. But I’ve got the EPL back, so no need to watch the NBA.

ParticipantSolid 0 for me for pretty much all professional sports.

ParticipantZERO-
Watched the start of the MLS and after what seemed like a 20 min poorly organized moment of player solidarity, I shut it off. -

ParticipantI’ve got no issue with the political messaging (they can do whatever they want), but I continue to have no interest in watching basketball.
So, zero I guess.

Participant@Skinyute it is good to hear you call it a political movement.

ParticipantWell, my original post was “social justice messaging”, but I changed that because I thought “political messaging” would a) be less likely to spark an argument and b) focus on my opinion of actual basketball instead of other things.
I probably just should have known better.
