Kuithe and Rising are the big ones, but also Pittman, Johnson, Ritchie.
Practice starts in three weeks. Who will be able to practice on day 1? -
WhittyParticipant
Also, update on Trejan Bridges? Do we still expect him to be a Ute this season?
-
UtesbyfiveParticipant
He’s due in court in August I think. If it gets postponed, or the outcome is negative, he won’t be a Ute.
-
Ute DubParticipant
Also, can you make me a bacon sandwich and wash my car? Thanks OnlyU. You’re the best.
-
RoboUteParticipant
Lmao

Bacon sandwich? Just bacon? Not a BLT?
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
I like Bacon but as I age nothing better than a good tomato sandwich.
-
Ute DubParticipant
“Bacon Sandwich” is a reference from Band of Brothers when Dick Winters is promoted to Major and gets an “orderly” as an assistant. The other soldiers from easy company request the orderly make them a bacon sandwich.

I still expect Bridges this Fall but not until the legal stuff is dismissed. Not really on his time…he’s waiting for it to get through the system. Fingers crossed it happens on schedule.

Time to be zen about it, yall. Doesn’t matter how healthy they are, gametime is basically here. They play or they don’t, our job is just to wear red.
-
ProudUteParticipant
I don’t disagree with you. However, I still would like to know the status of these players.
-
RoboUteParticipant
If it makes you feel any better OnlyU has stated plainly several times that he is 100% positive that at this point Cam is no longer affected by his injury, that he will be starting the opener, and that mobility will not be an issue. Also, that he has no idea why anyone would think otherwise. If that sounds a touch optimistic, I have bad news, you might be sane.
That said, he has been much quieter about Kuithe. That’s fairly obviously an extremely bad sign. We should be cheering for Kuithe to stay healthy and take his time this season to recover for the draft 1st and produce for the Utes 2nd. I think that’s only fair as well, young man’s already given a lot.
-
WhittyParticipant
I don’t think he’s ever outright said or even alluded to the opinion that Cam is no longer affected by the injury

I get the concern about the readiness of Brant and Cam but for those of you that like to worry I’d recommend picking something else to fret about…they’ll be ready and very effective in the opener. I can’t be any more clear than that.
Seems pretty definitive to me
-
RoboUteParticipant
Yep.

Pittman has been cleared for on field activity. Kuithe went through an intensive rehab program last month. You’ll see some load management in camp but I feel like they’ll both be ready for game one.
Cam is throwing right now. Will likely have a brace on which could affect his scramble mobility but the knee is sound.
I don’t think Cam is gonna act like a dual threat guy right out of the gate but he should be fine to move in space. Not really a position on the field that puts less pressure on a knee than QB.
Cam isn’t gonna be Lamar but he should be fine to move well in the pocket and at least average outside of it.
I think the strength, size and ability of the O-line takes a lot of pressure off of him early in the year as well. He should stay pretty clean.

Ritchie tweaked something in the spring…not in a spot you want to mess around with so taking it slow but all signs point to him being just fine.
I don’t think I ever said Cam wouldn’t be affected by the injury. Just that 1. It wasn’t as bad as it could have been. 2. His rehab/recovery is ahead of schedule and 3. He plays a position that requires less athleticism (mostly) than almost anywhere on the field. 8 months post surgery is plenty of time to heal enough for 3/5/7 step drops, to move side to side to avoid a little pressure and run in straight lines to the sidelines. He’ll wear a brace which will slow him down some but he’s not a burner anyway.

EagleMountainUteParticipant
Just a little push back on the less athleticism comment. Oregon 2022 kind of seems apparent Cam Rising’s athelticism was missing from this game.
-
OnlyuParticipant
Partially torn patella tendon in that game…
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Yes I understand that. That just contradicts what you said about lack of athleticism at the QB spot is all I am saying.
I would disagree with your assessment in that I think Rising’s game is highly elevated with his athletecism. Obviously USC being the best example.
Oregon is an example of his lack of athletecism leading to a failure offensively. -
RoboUteParticipant
Mobility is central to his success. But few here are willing to admit it.
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
I don’t know. It seems to me that most people have agreed with that.
