I hate to push the TDS feelings-a-thon further down the page, but I feel like this weeks upcoming oponent deserves some attention.  Oregon State is coming off a bye week, amirite? Two weeks ago they had two backs go for 150 yards each and averaged 8 + yards per carry eah This will be a great test for Utah’s improving young defense and I hope we can have the better showing on Saturday.

I always have a hard time analysing teams like Oregon State. As a fan, my “analysis” is mostly rooted in emotions. Regardless of their on-field performance, they just don’t evoke the type of feelings that other teams like ASU or Oregon do. Mostly because they have never been a true threat, and their fans never seem to harbor any ill feelings towards us. Jonathan Smith is a class act, and he’s running a very solid program. I have nothing but respect for them. Having said that, I hope we win convincingly this Saturday.

I fully expect Oregon St to be an all-out war. They’re playing great football this year and are the toughest to beat when playing at home. OSU knows how big of a game this is….they’ve got the only unbeaten team left in the conference coming to their place with an opportunity to knock them off. In other words, we have the bullseye on our backs and will most definitely get OSU’s best shot.

IMO, this will be a big test for our defense. We have to be able to stop the run in order to win this game. We’d all love a convincing win, but I will gladly take a W anyway we can get it this week in Corvallis….Go Utes!!

Agree, OS gave away the game last year against Utah. FWIW, different year and many different players for Utah. Utah is a much better team going into this game than last year and if Utes go in with their one game a year WTF attitude, Utes lose.

Smith coaches a lot like KW and is one of the best coaches in the P12. Challenge is slow OS on the ground and make Nolan have to throw in long 3rd downs. This game is far from a just show up and win game. Utes need to bring the same swagger and build on from last week.

I would disagree on who gave the game away last year. Oregon State was the game where Bentley missed an open Kuithe 3 times at or in the end zone for easy scores. Utah was forced to kick field goals on the first 3 trips in the red zone which kept the game closer allowing Oregon State to stay in it. When you turn a potential 21 points into 9 and still are leading 30-10 in the fourth quarter, it’s hard to credit the other team with giving the game away.

Oregon State will definitely be a tougher test than Utah is accustomed to. Utah never had to face Jermar Jefferson and in 2019 also got to take on the backup QB.

Our Rush D is trending in the right direction, particularly after holding ASU to well below their avg.

OSU may score some, but I find it difficult to believe they can keep pace w/us….Even in Corvallis.

I think our chances. They’re playing right into what we do and want to do.

They clowned USC, yes I know they suck. They ran and passed however and whenever they wanted. This will be a tough game. They have a geat Oline that makes big holes. We need to bring the A game. 45-27 is no joke.
