Calling obvious blocking fouls as charges against Utah, can’t see possession, they’re bad.

Gotta get AP back into the game.

Apparently the refs don’t have sound on replay, cuz that hit the rim.

63-56 Utah wins!

Every eventual National Champion has a close call during the tournament. Hopefully, this will be ours. Princeton played great defense, and we only hit one three-point basket. You have to have a great team to win under those circumstances.

Yup, win and advance is the only focus in the Tourney!
Good job Ladies!

We’re still standing which is what counts. Meanwhile Trees in big trouble.

To win by shooting 1-15 from three and having all those turnovers is good and bad. On the positive side, if we clean up the turnovers and shoot better, we can play a ton better. On the negative side, if we turn the ball over that much against LSU, we’re going to get run out of the gym.

Lead ref today is Melissa (not sure the last name), but she is notorious in the Pac-12 WBB community for making questionable calls. I don’t really know that they consistently benefit one team or another, or any playing style or another, it’s just a consistent level of headscratcher calls.

Thought some of the block/charge calls were inconsistent. Sort of game both teams and fan bases remember lots of calls against them. Generally throughout such a game the calls tend to balance out.
I felt going in it would be a matchup of Utah’s high powered offense against a great physical Princeton defense.
Credit to the Tigers for working hard and not giving up in both games this weekend.
Now it’s on to Greenville (Seattle would of course have been a better destination) against another Tigers team. I’m a bit uneasy about facing the SEC after Stanford fell to Ole Miss last night and am more worried about LSU than I am Indiana. At least we won’t meet South Carolina in their home state and avoid them unless we make it to Houston.

I generally agree with you on all fronts. With the reffing, I don’t think it really benefitted either team significantly but it’s just annoying to see so many bad calls that you’re relying on balancing out. It would be nice if it were just reffed better throughout.
I also think LSU will be a challenge. They will put a lot of pressure on our guards and we need to attack the pressure rather than just survive. We did OK against SEC pressure when we played Ole Miss and Alabama earlier this year. Angel Reese is also a monster, she had 25 points and 24 rebounds in the last game – I’m not sure how we’ll match up with her. It would really help if she got in foul trouble… Finally, we need to shoot better than 1-15 from three this game. Fingers crossed…

I have watched more women’s basketball this year than I think I have my entire life and I can honestly say that the officiating is some of the very worst I have ever seen.
