Adding any of these mountain west teams with the exception of boise I think would be a mistake
-

They So Poo Poo will never happen. That expansion is a dumb idea.
-
ALUFParticipant
It is the 10th option for this guy…Oklahoma and another big xii team would be exciting

Can you imagine the WOKE governments and schools of CA, WA & OR dealing with the policies of BYU? I think it all starts and ends there.
-
ALUFParticipant
Of course, I doubt byu ever joins the pac. I was more excited of the possibility of these big xii teams
-
UteBackerModerator
That could happen. I’ve heard rumors for years that the XII wants to steal AZ & AZ St. I think it’s more likely that we raid the XII. Also, if the SEC wants Oklahoma why wouldn’t they go?
-
ALUFParticipant
Idk why they would pass on the SEC…I feel like if they call you answer, but all this talk on leagues raiding the big xii makes me wonder how much longer it lasts
-
ALUFParticipant
I’ve heard the AZ moving on too, the fact they haven’t though tells me there isn’t any interest considering how poorly our league has done in football and basketball up until this past year of course

Article is trying to drum up a story where there isn’t one.
Keeps referring to ‘IF’ the PAC wants to expand…
“BYU: Pac-12 Expansion Fit: Business-wise, it’s perfect”
I just lost all interest.

HahnenwkParticipant
Not gonna happen
None of those teams make sense to add -

I hate it. Now to be fair, I wouldn’t exactly have to hold my nose to see Tx Tech and Okla join the conference, but, in nearly all expansion scenarios, it’ll ruin our schedules. Right now, we’re in the Pac-12 South, so that means we get annual Home-&-Away schedules with anchors like USC and UCLA. This is good for recruiting. But if we expanded west, Utah would taken out of the Pac-12 “South”, and be placed in the Pac-12 “East”, and gone are our annual series with those 2 CA anchor schools.
The only way we can remain in the South is if we expanded by adding teams like Bois St, Fres St, or Nev. And that’s not exactly adding value to the league.
It’s in Utah’s best interest to remain a 12-team league.
-
ALUFParticipant
Yeah that’s a good point, I don’t think I’m willing to bring on any big xii teams at the expense of our yearly matches with the LA teams
-

DuhwayneParticipant
With the exception of Texas market, none of those expand the pie. They should not increase the denominator. No.

More likely the Big 12 will try raiding the most valuable assets in the PAC-12.
So let’s hope nothing happens at all except for a better TV deal for the league’s current schools.

Whoever wrote this has no clue about the academic pecking order in California. No way are any Cal State system schools getting into the PAC 12. Never going to happen. Also, no way BYU ever gets into the PAC 12 for glaringly obvious reasons due to their honor code and historical stiffling of academic freedom and expression. Boise State is not academically a good fit and neither are the two Nevada schools. I would say an Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Kansas State expanision might work but it doesn’t buy you much in terms of TV markets (aka money). It would seriously strengthen our basketball stature though!
