ParticipantSeeing rumors that Mycah Pittman is no longer on the team, potentially quitting mid-season. Anyone have insight?

KeymasterMeh, but is it a symptom of a larger issue within the team?
-
Ghost of the HEB
ParticipantMore of him being shown the door than him quitting. Net positive IMO. Another WR who’s been somewhat of a cancer is also gone. All in or in the way.
-
Yergensen
ParticipantGhost, are you able to say who the other WR is?
-
krindor
ParticipantWell, he said it’s Pittman and another WR and that between them they’ve combined for 7 receptions.
Pittman has 6.
So if I’m looking at the guys with exactly 1 catch, it’s between Miki Suguturaga (not a WR), Munir McClain (who Ghost says is “definitely still on the team”) and Taeshawn Lyons.

ParticipantThanks Ghost – reading the tea leaves it seemed to be a decision potentially coming from the top. Hope we have enough guys to catch the ball Saturday night 🙃
-
Ghost of the HEB
ParticipantThe two of them have combined for 7 catches on the year and haven’t exactly been ideal locker room guys. We’ll be alright.
-
Anfernee
ParticipantI’m seeing Calhoun on multiple depth chart sites at WR. That’s interesting.
-
NarfUte
ParticipantSame #’s. Where you see Calhoun starting is where Munir will be starting
-
Ghost of the HEB
ParticipantYeah, those random sites are getting Mcclain and Calhoun mixed up cause #4. Munir is definitely still on the team.
-
Jim Vanderhoof
ParticipantGhost do you know why Alford has not played or has he? Seem with his size he could help.

ParticipantBased on this math,a quick look at the season stats, comments here and a guess, I’m assuming Lyons is gone.

Jim Vanderhoof
ParticipantThanks Ghost. Maybe we see Alford or McClain.
-
Anfernee
ParticipantBesides now seeing Calhoun on the WR depth, I also don’t see McClain on any depth charts. Ghost said it’s two WRs.
-
Central Coast Ute
ParticipantWas it McLain who posted to social media a couple of weeks ago to “get me out of here” or “set me free” or, however he worded it?
-
Yergensen
ParticipantLanden King posted that.
-
highlandute7
ParticipantI thought it was King but could be wrong.
-
-
NarfUte
ParticipantMcClain and Calhoun share the same #. The depth chart showing Calhoun starting was a mistake, McClain is starting. The other WR gone is likely Lyons
-
Yergensen
ParticipantI’m hoping McClain is all in and getting the start. Get him the ball and he’ll produce.
-
-
Yergensen
ParticipantCalhoun the DB?
-
highlandute7
ParticipantI would assume yes, since they share the same number. One has to be O and the other D.

KeymasterOh so the opposite, which seems better.
-
Trailgoat
ParticipantIf there’s one word to describe this football team it’s fragile.
-
jshame17
ParticipantLyons??

Participantwho?
-
BD
ParticipantI don’t see anything official, but a few X folks are claiming he quit the team.
Does this guy have inside info?
-
Yergensen
ParticipantOne less non-playmaker to take reps from the playmakers.
-
radioUte
ParticipantI hate to be that guy, but who are the playmakers?
-
-
2008 National Champ
ParticipantInteresting. A lot of upvotes for him leaving.
How many of you were in the mob downvoting @Chinngiskhaan when he said that Pittman would never amount to anything when the transfer news was announced? New WR Commit
-
RedUte14
ParticipantPittman has been poo.

ParticipantJust another example of don’t believe the hype until the results show on the field. Feels like that is the theme of Utah football the last two seasons.
-

ParticipantAnother reason why Whitt needs to open up practice.
Too often he brings a player in, gives them reps over better players, plays them over better players, sticks with them over better players.
If practice was open, we’d at least be able to ask Whitt:
Why Brewer over Rising?
Why Wilson over Rose?
Why Loener over King?
Why Pittman over McClain?
And so on.There is no accountability in this program. Accountability starts at the top and the lack of accountability really shows on the field.
All of Whitt’s shenanigans have caught up with him the last two years.
Any time a leader won’t show you the books, won’t show you how decisions are made, won’t show you why they do what they do…
Run. It’s the first sign the system has corrupted and gone bad.

ParticipantLyons. Was excited about him when he transferred form UW. But no Good
-
EagleMountainUte
ParticipantLyons as well?
-
Ghost of the HEB
ParticipantLyons may be getting a second chance
-
Utah
ParticipantSo Pittman has quit us two years in a row? SMH.
Does he come back with Rising next year?
-
Larry B
ParticipantWell great, now who’s gonna average 3 yards on punt returns?
-
The Miami Ute
ParticipantToo bad for him…wish him well in his life…football is a harsh mistress…

ParticipantMycah Pittman on why he left the team:
As you hear it was due to injuries/long-term health. After listening to this it is reminder to not pass judgement without knowing the whole story.
I’ve heard he’s a great kid, this confirms it for me.
-
jshame17
ParticipantNo argument from me… best of luck to him.
-
Rick Walker
ParticipantDang I feel awful for the guy, it makes me more upset that we didn’t know any of this (I don’t think he’s lying at all)
-
highlandute7
ParticipantDoesn’t then this go against what Ghost had said before? Just wondering.
