ParticipantSo KWhitt confirmed the Carrington transfer, saying they carefully looked at the situation and talked to Darren. In the end they went with their gut that he’s a good kid that has made some bad decisions and not a “bad kid”.
Said Troy has complete autonomy with the oh-fense. They looked at the season and determined the main need was to improve the quarterbacking and throw game overall. Thinks Hollaway made great improvements in the receivers last year and expects they continued to improve in the offseason. Red zone oh-fense was dissapointing last year and may have cost the Utes 3 of their losses.
Restated current QB depth chart as Troy Williams, Tyler Huntley & Cooper Bateman. Still believes they all have some chance at being the starter, but they have to pare to two in the first couple weeks of camp, with starter named later.
Rest was mostly just personal banter. Pac-12 crew thought he looked like David Hasselhoff

ParticipantAlso sounded like he confirmed stadium expansion plans to close in the south endzone and bring RES to ~50K. You’re right though, no real surprises in the interview.

ParticipantIf they rennovate & expand the SEZ and it only goes to 50k it’ll be a giant wasted opportunity. 4,000 more seats is not enough. It needs to be 55k at a minimum.
63,471 seats seems just about right.

ParticipantI think you mean 63,726. =)

ParticipantThe studies don’t support your number. Most stadiums are downsizing. hill has said it won’t go above 55K in stuff I’ve seen.
-
Wilson’s Mustache
ParticipantI don’t remember him having said that and the teams that are downsizing, as you say, are teams that have struggled to fill stadiums that are 70,000+. There are plenty of schools that have increased their capacity in recent years.
I will be very suprised if its not 55,000.
Also, I think a joke went over your head.

KeymasterSo I take it RES is 63,725.

ParticipantLES, or also sometimes known as RES South, is 63,725 according to da interwebz.

KeymasterPart of the issue is there wouldn’t be that many seats added by filling in the south end zone. 5K or so, and they would be cheaper seats (yeah that’s relative). SO it would take years for that to pay off.

ParticipantYes, thanks for adding that. Part of a conversation where he gave a lot of props to the fans in RES.

ParticipantWhy is this so important to people? Autzen isn’t much more and BYUs atmosphere is awful. Experience way more important than numbers. Just IMO.

ParticipantIf we close out the SEZ then there is a good chance we can be as loud as Autzen. Right now the NEZ can be absolutely deafening at field level.
Also, the SEZ is going to fall down one of these days, and it has to be replaced anyhow. May as well add new seats along with the new locker rooms.
Numbers alone don’t matter, imo.
