This is the story of a mediocre program. Every year its just wait until so and so next year… Not sure how many of my fellow Ute alum and fans on this board live in Utah but for those of us that I talk to that live outside the small bubble that is SLC realize this program is what it is… A mediocre program that would be an elite mid major but an also ran as a Power 5 member. I get the feeling that most of the SL based Ute fandom is still basking in the excitement of joining the Pac 12 and is in somewhat collective denial that the program isn’t actually progressing. This excitement is understandable because the Utes are the only real show in town so I am not knocking that excitement level but I am suggesting that eventually the luster of being a Power 5 member will wear off if we fail to ever actually win the conference. Then again I can just wait until (plug in your favorite underclassman or Jr. College transfer) is killing it next year and then we will win the conference.
