It’s mid-season and not even a bye week. We aren’t getting any meaningful changes that will help this season. You can’t change the scheme in a week. Whit isn’t firing Ludwig mid-season, and even if he did, who is going to replace him that can do better with our current playbook?
Here are the changes Whit might announce tomorrow:
1) We’re opening the competition for every starting spot on the offense this week. Except for Bernard. That kid is a warrior.
2) Whit will announce he is retiring at season’s end.
On number 1, I can hear Whit saying this almost verbatim. It will have no effect. There will be no new starters on Saturday.
On number 2, I don’t think Whit is the type to make this kind of announcement after 3 losses, but it’s the only change Whit could announce right now that would take the heat off that doesn’t involve throwing his good friend (Ludwig) under the bus. Unfortunately, if he does announce he is retiring, that won’t fix anything for this year.
Hate to say it boys, but this team is not good and nothing will change that this year.
