But I’ll update it anyway. Here is a selection of game-by-game points given up by our opponents this season (I’ve added TCU and updated each line with last week’s results):

– Baylor vs P4 opponents: 23, 38, 34, 43, 35
– USU vs FBS opponents: 48, 38, 45, 62, 50, 50
– OKState vs P4 opponents: 31, 22, 42, 38, 38
– Arizona vs FBS opponents: 39, 31, 10, 28, 41, 34
– ASU vs P4 opponents: 23, 30, 35, 31, 19, 24
– TCU vs P4 opponents: 27, 35, 66, 27, 30, 7

The observation remains true — the lowest number in each of the lines is what Utah put up against them. It’s crazy that we went from a top-15 scoring offense in 21 and 22 to making bad & mediocre defenses look good every single week and firing our OC midseason. Houston held Oklahoma to 16 earlier this season, so this might be the week we buck the trend.

So much of sports, especially football, is mental. The continual fortitude and commitment it takes. Which has been a hallmark of Whitt teams. Even in disappointing years. But this team whether consciously or subconsciously is full of guys half assing it for a variety of reasons. Politics, other guys NIL or playing time. Defense sick and tired of carrying the whole team. I feel like this team has been ripe with all that stuff. Then factoring the guys that were here last year and went through that. 5 games left and Ludwig gone. I hope SOMETHING changes.

The TCU and Arizona lines are depressing. Combining for 17 against those two defenses at home is why Ludwig is gone.

With the talent this team has, there should be no excuses .. they need to stop the self pity and bickering amongst themselves and put that energy into making plays on the field.. they’re due for a dominant performance.

There was one play in the TCU game Kuithe came out of his stance and just stood there on a run play. Never seen that before with a Utah player.
