Admittedly a recent member (tho I’ve been monitoring the OC discussion for awhile)
I think it’s worth remembering that an interview with a candidate doesn’t equal a hire. Both parties have their own priorities – maybe someone wants to stay in their home state, maybe someone wants more control over process. This is a competitive process, and ultimately its up to the candidate to determine where their priority lies (Keep it in perspective – Scalley could be somewhere else with more $$, but he elected to stick with Utah).
Unless you’re in the proverbial ‘room where it happens’, it’s nothing but a bunch of conjecture, and assigning blame or assuming that all is lost at this point is (probably) premature.
