I don’t know why I’m curious about this but if the recruits currently projected to pick Utah were to come through, what would your thoughts on the class be, Pace? Here are those predicted and committed. NOTE: I did not include a few showing as predicted, but not likely because of recent changes (Darvon Hubbard, Katravis Marsh) or recent recruits committed elsewhere that have popped up on Utah’s radar (Ty Jordan, Tate Rodemaker). Here is what the class would look like if signed as predicted. Commits are noted with an asterisk, RMs noted with a plus:
*TR QB Peyton Powell **** 0.9060 (HS)
DE Van Filinger **** 0.9036
DE Xavier Carlton **** 0.9004
+OLB Tennessee Pututau *** 0.8877
+OG Hunter Lotulelei *** 0.8862
+OT Jaren Kump *** 0.8809
OT Solatoa Moea’i *** 0.8778
S Nate Ritchie *** 0.8714
*WR Money Parks *** 0.8693
*RB John Gentry *** 0.8647
OT Alex Harrison *** 0.8593
+DL Aliki Vimahi *** 0.8584
+DE Taniela Pututau *** 0.8533
ILB Sione Fotu *** 0.8519
*DE Tyler Wegis *** 0.8505
TE Alex Lines *** 0.8498
*OLB Jaylan Ford *** 0.8465
*S Kamo’i Latu *** 0.8464
ATH Kenzel Lawler *** 0.8444
DE Tanoa Togiai *** 0.8416
*ATH Caine Savage *** 0.8410
*S Ben Renfro *** 0.8389
TE Michael Ambagtsheer *** 0.8376
*OLB Graham Faloona *** 0.8367
CB Daryl Porter *** 0.8326To save you some math…
22 total recruits
3 four stars
19 three stars
Average grade: 0.8615
That Average Grade would good for 6th in the Pac 12 and 36th nationally.
It would also be the greatest year Utah has ever had from an average rating perspective. -

Thanks. Appreciate this.

Why do you care what that troll thinks? He will be happy when Whitt is fired and Utah dumps recruiting MOARmons. That is literally all he cares about.

It may have prompted him to research and make this post. Personally I think the comment about Pace is immaterial.
Good info ayoriver.

I upped the post. I just don’t get the seeking of his approval or thoughts. You can’t change a troll.

I’m not Pace 🙂 – but my thought firstly goes to lacking depth of talent at WR. I’d really want to see more speed height and on that list.
But still with a twinge of “I’m pretty sure KW has forgotten more than I know about recruiting”, so overall looks pretty good.

You have to look at who we have returning. In the case of receivers we have Thompson, Enis, Dixon, Covey, and a couple more returning, so not a big need in this class.

I had completely forgotten about those RM recruits. There were some solid guys in that class–hopefully they can pick back up pretty quickly.

how confident are we on picking up DE Van Filinger **** 0.9036 & DE Xavier Carlton **** 0.9004?
-
Utahute72Participant
Well Fillinger just recommitted from Texas and Utah has been considered a leader for Carleton for a while. That said I never count a recruit until he signs and there are some big names also chasing them.

Texas and Michigan can be very appealling: Go lose to your rival and underperform forever.

Definitely not looking for his approval or to change him. More than anything, I was curious to hear the argument against what would be the best recruiting class ever from an average rating stand point. I suspect it would be same old, same old i.e. not enough 4 stars/no 5 stars, but rather than assume, I figured he could voice his own thoughts.
Maybe you feel differently, but I don’t view listening to a troll and letting a troll get to you as mutually inclusive. I can take a troll for what it is.
