KeymasterCheck out these pics! Are they replacing the field as well or did they just take it out so the heavy equipment doesn’t ruin it? And is this supposed to be done by this season? I don’t remember. Sure looks like it won’t be.

ParticipantNo, they are supposed to just do the excavation work all around the Clark Building to have ready for demolition which will take place right after the final game of this season. Then they will begin construction of the new SEZ. I believe I read somewhere that a lot of the new building is going to be pre-constructed and brought in to speed up the timeline of the project early 2021.

ParticipantThey just remove the turf I believe.

ParticipantThe beginnings of the beautiful additions. Fingers crossed they are actually used this year.
I’ve seen construction projects go extremely quickly and slowly. It totally just depends on the firm and the planning beforehand. I’m confident they’ll get it done quickly.
I read somewhere that the renovations to the SLC airport are saving 500 million (!) dollars because of COVID and the project is moving forward very nicely. It’s nice to hear at least one nice thing to happen because of this virus.
I don’t doubt the renovations will be done. I do, however, doubt that they will be needed this season. I’m hoping there will be a season to even watch.

ParticipantThe dirt is there because they held 7 supercross races through June without fans to finish their season

ParticipantJust curious, does anyone know if there is room for adding premium loge seating on the east side in the future? They don’t have any space to the east due to the water basin, correct? I’ve never understood what the 3rd red tower on the east is for?

ParticipantThey cover the field turf and then put the dirt down on top of it for Super Cross.

ParticipantIt’s my belief the SEZ will be coming down this year not after the season. It’s likely Utah will have a shortened season with limited fans so the thinking is they can tear it down early.
Utah will get ready for game at the football facility and bus over.
Temporary structures/trailers will be brought in for opponents and halftimes

ParticipantI could only see it coming down earlier if the season gets cancelled or shortened. Otherwise the Clark building is the temporary structure. Starting earlier wouldn’t make any sense otherwise as they have plenty of time to get it completed prior to the start of the 2021 season.
