ParticipantSuch a weird offseason for coaching. So many openings.

ParticipantYeah, and this is not a great time to be looking for a head coach given the limited options.
The rumor is that the firing was related to sexual harrassment of a female employee in the athlethics department.
I kind of feel bad for the 11 players who signed early LOIs.

ParticipantWow. Who is available out there?
Todd Graham
Les Miles
Mark Helfrich
I’m sure there are others that would be good candidates that are currently employed, just trying to rattle off some names that are still waiting for their next gigs.

ParticipantLane Kiffin and Kevin Sumlin.

ParticipantDidn’t Lane Kiffin just sign some crazy deal?
-
Puget Ute
ParticipantYes. 10-year deal. He would almost be crazy to leave, since he gets to live in Boca Raton, go fishing with his kids every day, and has relatively low expectations in a league where he is head and shoulders above every other coach.
Kiff has plenty of weaknesses, but he is hilarious on Twitter and is doing a great job at FAU.

ParticipantWell, when you put it that way…..he would be crazy to leave FAU.

ParticipantJust looked into it. Looks like he signed a 10-year deal. Not sure why he did that considering his stock is rising after FAU’s great season.

Utah
ParticipantThe length doesn’t matter. What matters is the buyout.
-
EagleMountainUte
ParticipantYeah if only Coach’s contracts said once you sign on the dotted line you have to sit out two years inside the conference and one if you leave the conference.
-
Puget Ute
ParticipantPortions of a buyout are usually contingent upon not getting another job. That is why ARod was smart not to take a job with byu last year, because he would have lost out on all of the (iirc) $400k severance we paid him.

ParticipantESPN notice said he got fired for sexual harassment. Wow.

ParticipantAlso wonder if Alabama needs another “offensive analyst & offensive coordinator”?
-
Puget Ute
ParticipantIt is late in the coaching sweepstakes season. I can’t imagine trying to find a new coach now…

Tony (admin)
KeymasterWe should pick up Rich Rod and Todd Graham as assistants.
-
EagleMountainUte
ParticipantDouble secret advisors to the associate and assistant to the head coach.
