ParticipantAccording to Whitt Cam is not on the 2025 roster. Cam also hasn’t stated his intentions for next year yet – curious to see what his plan is.
I will always have fond memories of Cam leading us to 2 Pac-12 Championships and Rose Bowls. One of the best QBs in Utah football history!
Feel free to delete if I missed this, but I haven’t seen a post on this yet.

ParticipantThat was Whit flat out telling us, without telling us out right, that Cam is NOT coming back. He knows it’s Cam’s place to announce that, BUT he isn’t waiting around. He wants to make it known due to the criticism a lot of fans have given him regarding Cam’s injuries.
Regarding Cam, he changed Utah football and showed us what could be with the right person at QB. I will always be grateful for what he brought to the table, his effort, ability, leadership and his personality.

ParticipantWhitt is so fond of Rising, that it wouldn’t surprise me to see Rising stick around as a GA this year. Why keep killing your body? Get a head start on a coaching career, if that’s what he’s into. It’s certainly more lucrative than Criminal Justice.
Our best success with Ludwig was when Cam was changing the plays at the line. He very well may have a knack for play calling. You can make a lot of money doing that.

Participantthis is exactly what I’m hoping for. I’d love to keep Cam in the program because it definitely seems like he’s got great football instincts, but yeah I definitely don’t want to see him on the field again.

KeymasterInteresting point about the audibles. Remember another successful QB at Utah that did the same? BJ.

ParticipantTechnically Whitt said, “He’s not on the current roster.” That would leave the door open. I am not suggesting or hoping that Cam stays. I’m just saying that Whitt’s words were carefully parsed, leaving the door open.
BUT – I do not think Cam is staying. Personally, I think we need to move on. I love CR, but we need to move on to the next generation of Utes.

ParticipantHis words immediately thereafter were “so you can read into that”. That was followed by (paraphrased) “That’s on Cam to make that known.”
If he’s not on the roster and we can read into it that makes the assumption pretty obvious.

ParticipantAmong my proudest Ute moments were watching Cam dive into the end zone in the closing minutes to beat USC and then beating the Trojans again in Vegas to win another PAC12 trophy.
But time to clear the way for another leader at QB.

KeymasterAs I mentioned elsewhere, Cam’s dad told me that if he plays, Cam will likely be somewhere other than Utah.

ParticipantCam is preparing for his pro day.

ParticipantIf Rising wants to go pro, what are his chances? After all, he’d only played sparingly in 3 games over the past 2 years. I would think that with his history of injuries, coupled with not a lot of recent tape on him, he has practically no chance to even pick up a free agent contract. And even with a free agent contract, wouldn’t he be making more as a starting QB in college? I would think that since playing another season would be the only way to improve his draft status, plus he’d make more money, he’d either return to Utah, or transfer to another institution.
What am I missing?

ParticipantCam is old. I’m not sure another year at college would greatly improve his draft stock. Regarding money, he’ll only make that money if someone pays him. I don’t think the crimson collective is going to be shelling out the money they have been for him and like you said, he’s played sparingly the last two years. Why would anyone else pay him much more. Plus, what does a pro day hurt anyway. As long as he doesn’t hire an agent, he can still play college ball, assuming he gets another year of eligibility. He might as well give it a shot and see what his chances are.

ParticipantHow do you expect some to keep the drama up in the Fan World with you spewing facts like that?

ParticipantBad moon rising was such a vibe when it was played in the stadium. Will always remember the overall mojo he brought to the team. You knew you were getting punched in the mouth by a squad that was just out there balling and having a good time.

ParticipantI will love and appreciate Cam for the rest of my life. He was so kind to my daughter who was star stuck by him and remembered her months later at Fan Fest. Such a good guy. I hope for nothing but the best for him and his future. If he were to come back I’d welcome him with open arms. I hate that he’s ben derailed by injuries because we had the weapons and defense to have a couple of special years but just couldn’t put it together. I’d love more than anything for him to join the staff.
