question for y’all – Brandon Rose. obviously in the portal with no commitment, no signing. what are we thinking? will he announce soon or “come back” to Utah? I personally liked what I saw in game time moments. Would love to see him fight for his spot in the QB room. thoughts?

He’s in a tough spot. Maybe a game’s worth of so-so film over 3 years, coming off an injury that affects mobility. I would guess that if he hasn’t already been picked up somewhere, his only options may be at the FCS level.

I’ve heard that the rift in the locker room was between those supporting Rose and those supporting Wilson. With Wilson already maintaining his commitment, I’m fine with Rose taking a hike. We don’t need anymore drama.

It seems evident that the players in the Rose camp were correct. LOL

Is it too late to trade Wilson for Rose? Really liked what we saw from Rose, would prefer him back.

I like Rose and appreciate that he stayed after last season. However, with everyone we have in the QB room now, and Johnson as an emergency QB – I would not waste a roster spot on Rose. He is not good enough for that now that we have rebuilt to QB room.
His injury will not allow him to play in spring ball, so that works against him right now. I agree with the post above – that his best option right now is likely an FCS team. I hope it works out well for him.
We have plenty of other portal needs right now, including TE, Dline, Defensive backfield, etc. I would happily accept Woods returning to our QB room if he hasn’t already been picked up.
A couple of things I would like to see.
1. Barton stays.
2. Damuni gets permission to stay.
3. Wilson gets his surgery asap.
4. Johnson is willing to try another position other than QB.
5. We do a better job of developing our Oline. I think we have the guys, but we need them to deliver as a team.-

I’ll add getting back a healthy K. Johnson and T. Fotu getting his JC year back would be very helpful as well.

Keep Rose if he wants to come back as a PWO to play TE or LB, maybe he can focus on getting a college degree which seems to be the last thing on some of these players minds these days. I get there’s probably a large number of players in the TP cut loose by their institution. Beck’s got his guys. Good hell, Utah can’t go right back to where they were last year with a gluttony of players fighting for limited reps. Rose had his shot. Dampier, Zurbrugg, Wilson, and Becker are plenty.

Can we ever have enough QBs? I am fine if he comes back

I’d take Rose over Wilson’s schollie every day!

Rose looked awful against Houston … Average against BYU. Can we move on from wishing Rose back? The kid was in the program for 3 years. Time to reload the QB room and move on

He looked great in the BYU game before his lysfranc fracture. It’s not his fault the coaching staff let him play the rest of the game on one leg.

If he lied about his symptoms it certainly is his fault. Several less serious foot injuries manifest in a similar way, without imaging there’s no way to know.

Lie is a bit strong. I think it’s natural for a kid who’s waited 3 years to get his chance to downplay his pain level, especially if he’s been given medication or anti inflammatories (sic?). Adrenaline, just played a good half, natural instinct for an athlete to not want to admit you can’t go.,,
The medical staff needs to be allowed to look past what the kid wants and be able to do x-ray’s if necessary before the kid is let back in the game. But if it’s up to the kid, you’re going to get situations like Rose & Rising where they will say that can go and the Doc’s / Coaching Staff don’t investigate further. I still wouldn’t call it lying since how many of us go into the Doctor and accurately describe our symptoms unless it’s something obvious like a bone break?

He didn’t lie about his injuries. They put a metal sole inside of his shoe at halftime and then ran him back out there.
