Dillingham has done an amazing job for the Ducks this year.  He is only 32.  He did go to ASU and was an offensive assistant at ASU for one season.  Is ASU willing to take a chance on a young coach like Dillingham?

Whether it happens or not, I’m all for the distraction it may cause to UO.

He might want to stick around, he could be Oregon’s head coach by January.

Az St is desperate.  Their qualifications might be just that the new coach is breathing.

I think ASU has to take a young and dumb coach.  They are in a situation where you will have to excercise some patience for some time and fans don’t have that.

I don’t know about young and dumb.,, If they could find the current version of 2017 Matt Rhule, they could be back to their usual 7-8 win level fairly quickly. Rhule had done well at a traditionally bad Temple and saw the potential of Baylor coming out of the Briles debacle.

Arizona State has always been able to attract good athletes but they don’t seem to support their program very well and have made some really head-scratching hires. The worst part of hiring Edwards for them was that it pushed Napier out the door. Right about now, their fan base would have loved to have seen Napier get the job instead of asking him to stick around and try to make a career failure of a coach look good.

Nobody sells the “sleeping giant” like ASU, they sell it so hard their fans actually believe it.  Plus the AD is fighting for his life at this point.  I wholly expect a washed up “name” to show up in Tempe, talk about “sleeping giants,” recruit several good players and hover around .500 until the AD gets shown the door and pack his own bags a few months later.

That’s a dumpster fire of a program right now. If Oregon is treating him right I wonder if he would just opt to stay and wait for a better offer.

I could see about any coach going in there, being lucky to squeeze our 3-4 wins a season and getting fired 2 years later. Herm really messed that place up.

I think he would likely go there if offered. He went to school there and already coached there.  It would be a risk for sure, but he is young and I believe there is some potential at ASU.
