Looking good tonight through the first half. Could surprise this season.

As long as the 3’s are dropping, apparently.

The three point game is this teams only hope to win games this year. We’re not nearly as athletic as the other big12 teams and if our shots are falling then we have a chance to win some games. Ball movement and threes are gonna win us games, drives to the hoop will just result in turnovers. The way this team is playing is the only way they have a chance to stay competitive, if the threes aren’t falling then oh well they would’ve lost that game anyway

50 3PA out of 65 FGA for the game is crazy. I watched the first half – all 3s. There was a stretch where they must’ve shot a dozen 3s in a row and the ball almost never went inside the 3pt line. It was about as one-dimensional as it gets and seems like it was mostly more of the same in the 2H. They made a great %, but it was not great basketball to watch and I would expect them to try/be able to create more interior/diverse scoring opportunities against a cupcake.

Everything you said is correct. But I would point out that 2 bigs who are supposed to be big contributors (no pun intended) aren’t playing yet. So eventually we may have a bit more inside presence than we do now.

The “shark” will be a lot of fun to watch.

Half a hundred trey attempts (which shattered the old team record of 40) is unsettling. Nights when those shots don’t fall will be rough. Hopefully we can be able to get into the paint more in conference play.

Really wish we would beef up the pre-season schedule.

Teams like ours tend to be really tough at home and crap on the road. The “enemy gym” phenomenon seems to affect outside shooting teams the most.

But hey, I’m not complaining. If we’re competitive in every game at home and losing every game on the road, that’s better than I thought we’d be.

Much to be hopeful for this season only two games in against some cupcakes. However, won’t be convinced until midseason conf play which I think at that point in the season should be a good measuring stick. Go UTES!

I went to the game last night and was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was. Craig has definitely recruited shooters. It will be interesting to see if we can hang with some of the teams in the Big12.

I think this team will surprise a few people this year and I don’t think it’s out of the possibility that we finish somewhere around the middle of the pack. I’m still rooting for Craig to succeed here. I like him and hope that somehow, someway, we can figure the whole NIL thing out and get back to being a competitive team. Craig is fighting with one arm tied behind his back with NIL so I kind of feel bad for him. It would be nice to seem him succeed in spite of his lack of resources.

We also need about 7000 more fans (and 2000 more students) to show up, but if we keep winning, I think the fans will come back.

      Go UTES!

I think our success with be against teams that don’t guard the perimeter very well. Like the past two teams we have played. Teams like Houston and Baylor will likely kill us with their perimeter quickness. However, I think we can hold our own with some of the less athletic teams. This team has some pretty serious shooters on it and their passing it pretty good, although they sometime over pass or try too many low percentage passes.

What I did like seeing is the teamwork and the fun they seem to be having. No way is this team last place in the Big 12 barring any serious injuries. I really like Mike #25. I just say Mike because I have no clue how to pronounce his last name. He is long, fluid, a good shooter, and a pretty decent defender. A very good addition.
