Saban picks the Utes to win the Big 12

Actually, everyone on GameDay picked the Utes except McAfee. He picked West Virginia. I am not sure if he was joking or not. But, he did pick OSU as second.

Everyone talked about Cam coming back and that Utah is tough in the trenches. They also mentioned that Utah picked up some great wide receivers from the portal. They pointed out that the champion could come down to which team can avoid injuries and which team has the depth.

Overall, the GameDay staff said that the conference has a number of teams that could compete for the championship including Arizona, OSU, and KState. They also said that no one should sleep on Kansas and Iowa State.

Herby knows the Utes and always has something positive to say about our team.

Overall, it was good publicity for our Utes.

They just picked their CFP brackets. Utah was on all of them. Even McAfee had Utah in the at-large group. Again, it’s nice to get the publicity. It helps our brand and it certainly helps recruiting. Now, we need to prove it on the field.

West Virginia should be good, but they have the most difficult schedule of any big 12 team. Even if they go 9-3 (7-2 in conference), their team would probably be so beat up at the end of the season.

Saban knows all about Whittingham and the Utah program. Every coach knows the games are won and lost in the trenches. Getting there is another matter. Whitt has done a great job of building depth and talent on the o-line d-line. With an experienced QB makes the Utes a legit favorite to win the Big 12.

Also great to see the b10 and sec get 3-4 teams each into the playoffs, while the acc and b12 teams get mostly 1 each (a couple at-large). Sigh. That didn’t take long to start the narrative.

B10 and SEC are used to each getting 2 teams into the 4-team playoff most years. Expand by 3x and we are lucky they don’t each expect placing 6 teams into the 12 team playoff.

I guess that is the next step.
