He posted “Florida State has had 6 recruits from 2025 class decommit. Do you believe Utah Football can secure quality recruiting class in the wake of a disappointing year?” First off, I feel like it’s hard to gauge our recruiting classes even in successful years. We seem to be a hodgepodge of local recruits, some recruits across various parts of the west and then transfer portals. Secondly, if there’s ever year we probably will take a hit and not be “successful” in recruiting (the traditional version of it) it’ll be after this year. Again though, the portal can be a game changer if done right and if you are missing out on targets/decommitts/guys entering portal. Ideally you want a healthy mix of recruits and a few portals but I think with more NIL next year and maybe some guys backing off commitments, our recruiting for ‘25 will be heavy on guys transferring here. Go Utes!

To that, I would say look at how many teams killed it last year (Washington, Michigan, FSU, etc..) and are now subterranean dwellers and look at how many teams were just plain ass last year (ASU, Colorado, Indiana, BYU, etc…) and are killing it this season. Does it really matter?

Exactly. These last 2 years have left me in a “just prove it on the field” mindset more than ever.

Agree with your premise but it doesn’t apply to Washington. They were always going to be decimated because of everything they were losing to the draft. Then they got hit by DeBoer leaving after signing day and the portal had closed. DeBoer took just about anyone worthwhile with him to Bama and Fisch wasn’t able to convince everyone he wanted to come north with him.

2024 was always thought to be a tough year for them and quite frankly, that’s a 4 win team that is outplaying it’s talent. Whether they can get back to where they need to be next year is up in the air but I don’t think they are that far off.

As Bill Parcells once said “you are what your record says you are.” Hard to see how Washington reloads quickly in the B1G. Their ceiling in that conference might be 9 wins.

That’s a pretty good ceiling. Only takes a couple of opportune breaks to go your way to turn that into 11-1.

Wasn’t that Denny Green? Nope but probably appropriate for Saturday’s game

          Mark Harlan:

“The Cougars were what we thought they were,” Harlan shouted. “What we thought they were. We played them a couple of years ago. Who the hell takes the second game in the season like it’s s**t? We played them the second game, everybody played four quarters. The Cougars are who we thought they were. That’s why we took the damn field.

“If you want to crown them, then crown their ass,” Harlan added before storming off. “But they are who we thought they were. And we let them off the hook.”

At the basketball game versus Queens on Tuesday night. I have tickets close to the courtside and see him every single game. He was talking to a Big 12 rep in town for the ballgame. Spencer Eccles was next to him and was also livid. Just kidding ;-)…
