After 3+ years we’ve managed to keep politics arguments from ruining this board to this point. Now I’m getting complaints about religious posts. I’m also seeing some users getting pretty nasty toward each other. First and foremost this is a Utah sports, and general sports fan board. There are rules which have been established which I think are pretty reasonable, however I allow adults to be adults for the most part here. Here are the site rules, as a refresher. We should all take a look at them and try to abide by them. New suggestions are welcome. We need to avoid personal attacks, insults, name calling, and so on. Personally I do not care for any politics or religious discussion, but sometimes those can be factors when talking Utah sports (the audit, missions and so on).
This board is moderated. There are several trolls and bad apples who are permanently banned and there is a lot of content that has been posted that has never seen the light of day.
On the Ute Hub app I’ve built in a user block feature which works great, and I will implement something like that on the web version when I get some time, for those users who aren’t your cup of tea. There’s also category filters on the web and the app, and we should all do our best to make sure we post topics in the proper category.
We are all together as Ute fans here. Let’s remember that. -

I honestly don’t think the religious or political talk has become a major issue. It happens occasionally, but not very often.
I suppose getting ahead of it now is a good thing though.

I just deleted a thread which got chippy, in terms of personal attacks and religious comments. Other than that I agree. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to get back to a barfing 6-year-old…

As I posted in that now deleted thread, there’s a whole other board dedicated to namecalling, politics, religion and not Utah Sports.

For me it all comes down to context. Political and religious discussions are ok for me *to the extent that they impact Utah sports*.
For example, discussion of missions is ok because it impacts Utah athletes. But discussion of how many wives some LDS leader has is not ok (on this forum) because it has no bearing on Utah athletics.
On the political side, I would say discussion of the audit is ok because it had direct impact on Utah athletics. But discussion on nuking North Korea is not ok (on this forum) because it has no impact on Utah athletics.
I want us to be able to freely discuss any topic that’s relevant to Utah sports. But I really don’t want to see this become another uf.n. Just my $.02

Totally agree!

Can we nuke North Korea if they take a quarterback we are trying to recruit? I think that would be an appropriate response…

Thanks for your good work, Tony. I don’t post much but visit the site often. It’s the only good option we have as Ute fans. And we deserve (as do our sports teams) a good fan forum. Let’s keep it growing. Cheers-

Thanks, Tony. I agree with you and these rules 100%. I left UF.N because of that garbage. Love this forum.
