      Colorado gone…

      SMU in?

Net gain for the conference. Better football, better Market.

Orrrrr is something in the state of Denmark?

Could be the fist domino to fall.  B1G could move soon, and/or more PAC schools want to go to the BIG12?  Who knows?  If the LA market wasn’t gone the Colorado move would be meaningless, since it is, chaos will probably be the name of the game from here on out.

Is this happening (CU to B12) or is it rumored?

It appears to have legs/credible. But this was always going to happen right? The PAC was going to get a deal somewhat comparable to the Big 12 and then was going to be shredded once the next contracts negotiations happen. I know Utah is going to land somewhere and I’m hoping it’s the BIG, a long shot though.

If Colorado leaves, Utah needs to too. Has to, replacing Colorado with any group of 5 isn’t going to cut it.

What I’m worried about is that this means another bad show is about to drop.

But as far as Colorado in a vacuum, are we sure they can’t be easily replaced by SMU or Sdsu?

Does Colorado with their empty stadium really draw more eyeballs than one of those?

Update… they do not. They were average for the mtn. West last year.

Now coach sanders will change that for a few years. Long term, don’t see it though.

What an incredible run they’ve had the last twelve years in the Pac if they do indeed leave. Ranked last in the P12 south 8 times. Average 4 wins a year. An absolute powerhouse is on the way to the Big12.

Why would Colorado leave? Maybe because the media rights deal is less than 20 million? I also don’t thing they jump unless a few others from the Pac jump too. I can’t imagine the Pac being in a good place losing multiple teams. It’s more than just Colorado leaving.

It is the weak 8.4 they can actually compete where they can’t in the pac-12

If we’re pining for Colorado, what are we really pining for?

I’m not sad at all about losing Colorado…. Who cares…

Just Nervous about what it means…

Can I say that, with Harlan at the helm, I have zero to no confidence Utah will fair well if the dominoes do start to fall.

Why? Every sport except men’s basketball is top tier and under budget while the school puts up a new building every day, but what is your knock on Harlan?

First, how many of those hires is he responsable for?  Second, he is going to priice you out of the game. Tickets  will continue to rise and these CC Champions is set up to help orgs that want in to buy large groups of tickets – not you. Third, conf realignment.  Remember he has dug his feet into the sand stating that “we are going to be members of the PAC12 no matter what”.  It’s never wise to close your door to potential suitors long before they are even aware they may be interested in you.  That’s what he’s done.

BTW, every sport… Men’s baseball, women’s soccer, have dropped.  Gymnastic has stayed put.So in essence, all the ones that were strong when he came in are basically there.  A few average ones have dropeed.  And 1 (womens Sball who has had ONE good year) has improved.  Correct me if I’m wrong.

I think women’s basketball lost in the sweet 16 to the eventual national champions and were PAC 12 co champs.

also, face it, Utah football is a big ticket with more demand than supply.

I think Harlan has done a good job overall.

But the realignment thing is one where he has to stick the landing. Or his tenure is a massive failure.

              To me that means either:
              1. Locking yourself up with Oregon and Washington(barf) for the next 4-5 years. Any conference with them is better than the big twelve and should draw more cash than the big 12.

              -Or-

              2. Landing in the big 12.

If we’re in an oregonless / Washington less pac then Harlan has failed in a major way. And so has Randall. No all amount of other successes can make up for us ending up in a good Pac comprised of our leftovers and Boise, Colorado st., sdsu, etc.
