I would much rather play in decent weather. Bad weather can be an equalizer. It “can” be an advantage to the underdogs. Look back a few years when we played a horrible OSU team in very bad weather. We barely got out of there with a win.
I know Utah has a better running game than BYU and that should be to our advantage in bad weather. However, BYU’s one strength is running defense. We will have a difficult time winning if we just run Saturday night. Just ask Wisonsin. Also, we were very bad running the ball in the first half last week in the snow. When we started end arounds with Covey and passing in the second half – we took control of the game. BYU’s biggest weakness is their pass defense. We need to exploit that and I am sure we will go deep to Dixon and others this week. It’s just more difficult to do in the snow an slush.
If we get to play on a dry field, we should dominate. I hope if it snows Saturday, that it will be done early enough to clear the field before game time. I was surprised that CU didn’t seem to try to clear the field last week. I would have thought that they would have plowed it at halftime. But, maybe they thought that a slushy field was to their advantage.
