The forecast for tonight in Gainesville shows lightning from 3:00 to 12:00.  I saw it last night and playing would not have been possible.  Would they cancel the game?  Estimates suggest that we have 10-15k fans here in Florida.

Fingers crossed we don’t have to figure it out.

Me too.  But, I am not overly optimistic.  You saw what happened last night. The forecast is not promising.

Found this with a quick Google search. Not very encouraging, worst case is cancellation. 😖😓

      Inclement weather implications

So if the game is cancelled that counts as a win for Utah, right?  Wait, that’s They So Poo Poo…

Goodness, the launch was scrubbed again, was hoping to catch it before heading out. Last night there was lightning in New Smyrna off and on with no rain. The uncertainty is not welcomed.

Not sure what you’re looking at when it says 9 hours of continuous lightning.   Looking at the forecast probability of thunderstorms, unfortunately the time frame has shifted about an hour later from some earlier forecasts, but still showing a significant drop off in probabilities after 7 pm EDT.   There is still a chance that late, but declining from afternoon.  Game is still better off in the evening than mid afternoon.

Reminder of the NCAA lightning safety rules: Lightning within 8 miles of the stadium, 30 minute delay.  The clock resets with each strike in the 8-mile radius.  Thunder can be heard, generally 6-8 miles from lightning.  If you see a flash and can hear thunder its probably inside of 8 miles.
