ParticipantO-block
We all know the game plan, run first. This week it’s especially important to keep the ball out of air raid’s hands.
No Zack. We need sustained drives, clean running lanes. O-block was dominated last week. Time for them to step up.
Even so, this game will be a sprint to points. Holding Wazzu under 30 will be a big win.

ParticipantWould you take this line?
457 total yards
210 pass (73% completion)
247 run (5 ypr)
38 min TOP
27 1st downs
7 red zone drives
Less TOs than other team?

ParticipantStill got lit up on the slants. Huntley was running for his life.

ParticipantI would love to be a fly on the wall for film breakdown on this game. Oline did let Utah down on key red zone chances. But on one specific fg settle Huntley could have walked in if the TE’s figured it out. Moss going out didn’t help either. Next man up is easier said than done. I believe Brumfield had his best ever game as a Ute but Utah lacked blitz pick up. Also I am very much sick of the passes to Covey. They just don’t work and Covey is regular now.
I kind of hope Utah just did red zone work all week. Literally 90% of practice dedicated to plays until they were perfect.

ParticipantHold hold hold Stopped at goal. O-block got worked. Every reputable wrtiter on subject agreed it was one of two major factors in Utes loss.
At the end of the day, the goal is to score Moar points. Other stats are meaningless.

ParticipantIf Utah’s defensive backfield take better angles on prayer passes we probably don’t even care.

ParticipantBlackmon was in perfect position on that 71 yard schoolyard bomb. He just took a bad angle and whiffed on the play.
Which is incredibly frustrating because there were multiple of those plays against BYU that he played perfectly. It’s almost like the moment was too big and the lights were too bright for him.

ParticipantClearly penalties were an issue, P12 refs threw almost 30 flags!
TE blocking has been a huge problem all season. Last Friday on 1st & Goal fumble, both TEs whiffed badly.
However, Huntley also needs to make better reads in the RPO scenario. He tried to be the hero a few times and got burned – so it looked like the OL’s fault. Best example: 3rd & goal on 1 and Huntley takes a 6 yard sack. Why? Because he didn’t hand off the damn ball. Feel free to watch that play again – OL had completely obliterated USC D-line and Huntley went 1 one 1 with the one defender who could have made the play.

ParticipantI also hate the shotgun RPO goal line runs. Just go under center and sneak forward two yards for hells sake.
