I’m a bit concerned about something I discovered. I was doing my spring/early summer thought process on if there were ways the Ute Hub app can be improved, or if there are any bugs to fix etc. I noticed that the users’ participating in the predict the score results showed nothing. Also noticed the same on pick em. I thought it was a bug in the app but eventually I discovered that the tables in the database that contain those datasets were empty. Zero. Nada. There were years of picks in there. Fortunately I’m fairly diligent about backing stuff up and I was able to restore all but the picks for this last season’s CFB championship game between Washington and Michigan.
But WHY? What happened? WHEN? I think the most likely issue is a coding error, though that even seems unlikely that I’d “accidentally” code something that would nuke an entire DB table. Next possibility is a hack. Perhaps during that last DDoS attack, the attacker found a vulnerability.
So, for now the data is back. Please all, take a close look around on the website and app and if you see something weird, let me know.

Maybe some SQL injection attack happened during the DDoS attack? However, it’s very weird they’d only care to delete that specific data. Hoping you accidentally dropped the table somewhere and get to the bottom of it🤞🏽

I just received a weird, obvious spam message through the utehub messaging system from User ‘Adams Kodjo’
“Hello,I am Mr.Adams Kodjo,Can we work as a team in this great opportunity? For details, contact me by email;

I got the same message in my UteHub inbox.

Came to report the same thing. Spam bot attack.

I’ll boot that bot. DEFINITELY report any bots/spam like that ASAP as to prevent more spam!

Spam bot has been removed and I think I got most of the spam and notifications. If you find that you’re getting a notification but can’t find the message, then let me know and I’ll get rid of the notification.

I’ve also seen a bunch of spam posts suggesting the Utes are in for a major challenge to win the B12.
I’ve ignored these knowing the Utes are the league’s new flagship program and will run the B12…but just thought I’d let you know if you want to remove these potential bots/threats as well haha!

You do an awesome job Tony! Thanks for maintaining this site. It’s by far the best Utah fan site on the internet.

Tony (admin)Keymaster
But… someone called it the pre-death UFN though!
-
AlohaUteParticipant
This site is soooo different from pre-death UF.N, it’s not even in the same ballpark. UFN became a cesspool of progressive politics and anti-mormonism before it’s demise, it was the worst site on the internet. This site is super civil and friendly and you do a great job minimizing trolling.
We users need to do more to get our friends on here and build a bigger community of (hopefully) civil and rational (as far as fans can be) Ute fans.

YES. How do we do this? I’m not a marketing guy.

I have not looked, but do you have social media accounts with the link to this site? Maybe just a twitter and Instagram where you share some photos or “ads” promoting Utehub.com and I bet the word gets out. Hashtag #Utes #Utahfootball #utahbasketball, etc. Tag each sport on Instagram. I bet it grows. Of course growing with the right people is ideal.

He’s definitely on X.
-
Tony (admin)Keymaster
Yes of course. Ute Hub has a Twitter/X and Facebook. On the website you can always find those links in the bottom footer, and on the mobile app tab the About button on the home screen and you’ll find the same links in there.

But… it sounded like a great opportunity and, from what I hear, he’s a team player.
Seriously, though, thanks for all you do.
