The Big Ten will kick off its football season the weekend of Oct. 24 after the league’s presidents and chancellors unanimously voted to resume competition, citing daily testing capabilities and a stronger confidence in the latest medical information, the conference announced Wednesday morning.

The league will attempt to play eight games in eight weeks, leaving no wiggle room during the coronavirus pandemic before its Dec. 19 conference championship, but it would complete its season before the Dec. 20 Selection Day for the College Football Playoff. Fans are not expected at Big Ten games, which will be held on campus throughout the season.

So who would the remaining conference not playing be?

There are dozens of conferences which have made the decision to suspend football.

Seeing on Twitter that the B1G is back. 8 games, mid October start and a championship in mid December.

Have to think that the biggest obstacle for the PAC now is Oregon and California governors.

Hope we somehow change course. I (selfishly) could really use some good news lately.

As mentioned previously on this site, Dinich reported the following.

The Pac-12’s “most aggressive” return plan is currently targeting mid-to-late November, according to a source familiar with the league’s discussions.

check the fine print, isn’t it dependent on states reaching COVID positive test levels less than 7.5% ??

I have always been against the fact that we canceled the season. Unfortunately, the politics on the West Coast are vastly different than the Midwest including the attitude towards football. I just don’t see the same groundswell with the California and Oregon schools to get back to football.  Sigh!

The states of California and Oregon will likely make it impossible for the PAC12 to play.  It is very sad that politics will make the PAC12 the only P5 conference not to play football.

Agree. California schools have already bent the knee for Pelosi and Newsom. Oregon is no different with the s**t show leadership running that state.
