KeymasterSorry but I don’t buy it.

ParticipantWhy?

KeymasterWe are losing a massive amount of talent and experience, including all but two defensive starters. The one place we might see improvement is offensive line. Most room for improvement there since they were not good.

ParticipantIf your real worry is defense then we should be fine.
Ute fans are so scared to be good. Although Kyle has given us reason in the past.
We’ll still be very good in the trenches on defense. And should be much improved on offense in the trenches-
Tony (admin)
KeymasterI’m not worried about QB. I know that.

ParticipantWhat don’t you buy? Utah’s record over the last 6 years is 55-25. A sustained period of top 25 performance results in the belief this is a top 25 program. I’ll buy it and I’ll pay double.
-
UteThunder
ParticipantThat 55-25 record includes a 7-6 season in a year when we replaced our starting QB (albeit by choice) from the previous season, just like we will be doing this year (not by choice).

Dante Guardi
Participantlove to see it but i doubt we crack the top 20
-
UteThunder
ParticipantWe won’t even finish this season that high. How in the world do we start that high next year with everything we are losing from this year’s team?
-
utefansince79
ParticipantWasn’t Washington (who lost a ton of players) highly regarded before 2019 started? (co-favorites to win the North)
We’re where they were last year. Lots of players to replace.

MemberLol.. so true.
Utah’s best CB is still in high school. No, this is sloppy writting with little research put into the list

ParticipantThe top 25 rankings are Bill Bender’s, of the Sporting News. The article is by Steve Deace, which is his commentary on the rankings. The following quote is from the linked article:
According to my numbers, Utah would be the most overrated team listed.
-
Stone
ParticipantWait, you mean you actually read the article instead of coming up with a hot-take?
-

ParticipantI’m kind of crazy that way…..

ModeratorKind of ironic, being that Utah is perennially the most underrated team every year.
I agree with Thunder… we’re simply losing too much. That’s OK, most teams have a rebuilding year. Washington took their turn this year. Look out for the Utes in ’21 though…
