Moroni is an interesting story. His family is in our LDS Ward in San Diego. His grandfather, Joe Cravens, was a QB at Utah in the early 60’s. He and Norm Chow were two of the first Hawaiians to play at The U. When Moroni was fairly young, his parents were both killed in a car accident. He and his 6 siblings were the raised by Joe and his wife. Joe and his wife also had 11 children of their own. Joe passed a couple of years ago. Moroni’s youngest sister, Ta’ase just left on an LDS mission. Four of Joe’s daughters have all died from cancer and two additional daughters are currently battling cancer. Despite the heartache they must have experienced, Joe and his wife (whose name escapes me) were always two of the most friendly, cheerful, giving people I have met. Joe’s wife is still living.
