Participant6-2 180 WR from California. Offers from Georgia, Oregon, ASU, BY💩 and many others. This is what 247 Greg Biggins said about Tavian back in April: “If you’re looking for a stock up receiver who just oozes upside, McNair is your guy. We first saw him at the National Preps Camp in Las Vegas before his sophomore year where he earned MVP honors and we’ve been high on him ever since. He’s an explosive kid and is one of the fastest receivers out West. He clocked a 4.52-40 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman’s Pro-Day back in March and was running past defensive backs all camp long at the Under Armour Next Camp that same weekend. He has an athletic 6-2, 180 pound frame, strong hands and knows how to change speeds to set up a defender. He had to sit out five games last season at Centennial after transferring in but looks poised for a huge senior year.”

ParticipantLooks like a good get. How do we convince what appears to be a good WR to come to Utah after this past season and we are currently sitting on our hands trying to figure out who the OC will be?
Looks to have all the skills but 4.52 40 isn’t really what I would call fast for a WR now days.

ParticipantFilm Evaluation:
This guy’s a natural long strider who tracks the ball well over the shoulder and can go up and get it over defenders. Love how confidently he plucks the ball out of the air—shows great hands. One thing I’d like to see more of is how he handles press man coverage since the film mostly shows him against off coverage, and in college, he’ll face a lot more press. Physically, he’s got a solid frame, and a summer in a college program could bulk him up nicely. Overall, he’s got the tools and potential to develop into a real playmaker.

ParticipantI think he has some kind of family ties to the area IIRC. Any WR worth their salt would reconsider after seeing what happened with Dorian this year. Hopefully they can shore up OC and QB and we can start building again. Having a great RB is a good start.

ParticipantUncle is Devonte Christopher, Ute WR 2009-12. He was very good one.

ParticipantIf the 4.5 is legit – it’s fast.

2008 National Champ
Participantfor a tight end it’s fast. I hovered between 4.59 and 4.61 on my 40 times and couldn’t keep up with college receivers in the 80’s.

ParticipantNice to beat out deep-pocketed schools like Oregon, Georgia, and Texas A&M. Welcome Tavian!

Participant“The 6-foot-2 180 pound wide receiver committed to Utah in July, ultimately deciding Utah was the best fit for him as a player with his relationship with the coaches and the culture as a team.”
