Testing new Like/Dislike buttons – Opinions Please

  I found a slick plugin for liking and disliking posts, people, pages… everything.
  
  I just turned it on. When you like something, it also asks if you want to share to twitter, facebook etc.
  
  I have like AND dislike buttons turned on for now. Let me know your opinions.

  Would it be possible to put the buttons up in the header of each reply where the “Like” link used to be?
  
  The current placement isn’t bad for short posts, but on long posts it may be tough to locate them.

  Try that… Seattle. It’s a funky system. It has to “call home” which I’m not sure I’m thrilled about. This is a 7 day demo.

    I just tried the thumbs up – I see the bottom of a text bubble but the text bubble is obscured by the post above it.

    How dare you try to live a normal life and not slave over our every whim. Dislike. Alright i said I wouldn’t use a dislike button to disagree with a post, but I wanted to try it out. Maybe the dislike button it is too much power for any man to wield responsibly.

  I haven’t seen a post I would “dislike” here yet. I’m sure one will happen. I’m still of the only-like theory in the vein of positive thinking…

  The dislike option is encouraging to trolls, they like the negative response, IMO it would be better to not have it.

  How ironic, disliking a post to send the message that we don’t want a dislike feature… I agree though. I think having no thumbs down helps keep it positive, reduces trolls. This particular system is one which is a paid gig. Has lots of features and is slick, but the data is not stored here. I may find a different one if it is decided to go thumbs up only.

  Dislike is fun, disention drives interest I think. That said, I see no dislike button. For reals, where is it?
