I’m sure a few other pac 12 teams will flame out this bowl season as well, and the pundits will all be justified in their pac 12 is weak commentary. Smh.
The P12 commentary is accurate, though. Bowl games act as a good measure of conference strength relative to other conferences, and the P12 always seems to fizzle out this time of year. I could see OSU taking USC to the woodshed, too.
Disagree because it’s like this every year for the P12. And on the rare occasion a P12 team makes it to a playoff/championship game, they lose, and generally lose big (a la Washington last year). USC did beat Penn State last year in the Rose Bowl, and was a good win, but it seems like that is a rare event for the P12.
With all the recent coaching changes, and key players sitting out to prepare for NFL draft rather than play some lower/mid-tier bowl game, what honest conclusion can you gain? Oregon is a different team without Freeman and Coach Taggert. UCLA without Rosen and Coach Mora…
Problem isn’t just the post-season. The P12 typically tends to flame out in any big early season OOC games as well (or loses to FCS schools), which – when combined with the poor bowl showing – is just more fodder for the “weak conference” argument.
(Side note, why isn’t Falk playing for Wazzu tonight?)
