That comment can be interpreted either way. It is almost glass half full. The losses are so hard to explain other than injuries. The early Washington loss where the offensive play calling was pretty good but drops drops drops. They show up again against TDS, CCG and Northwestern.
We are losing because our receivers are not good at Football and we have an outdated offensive philosophy. Why is it so hard for the Utah fanbase to admit its time to go a new direction. Everything has a shelf life. Injuries are a stupid excuse if you are a good program with depth. Recruiting needs to get better (better receivers) and coaching needs to improve as even in a year where we had 7 guys go to the NFL 2016 we werent that good. Excuses excuses excuses. We are by definition a mediocre Power 5 program.
That’s what you guys bring up though. Elite programs. Sorry we can’t go back in time and make Utah the haves. They never will be. Move on to the haves if you want it but it will never happen.
Be happy and enjoy Utah football for what it is enjoyable with a few ball busters.
Would Alabama be an elite program currently if Nick Saban didnt go there 12 years ago? Do you remember they were a mediocre program from the early 90s until Saban go there in 2008? In fact they had a couple of 3, 4 and 5 win seasons in there. Sure they had a rich history but Saban turned them around. How about Utah before Urban Meyer? Coaching makes a difference in both scheme and recruiting. Look at the problems Texas has had the last 10 years with their coaching issues. Blue Blood programs seem to only be good when they have the right guy. The never go away from Whitt position assumes it isnt possible to do any better than we are currently doing. There is no way to know for sure until we try or he retires.
