I have listened to some podcasts where Baylor insiders were interviewed. What I am hearing is:
1. Most people are not concerned about the Bear’s offense even with the starting QB down. They use their tight ends a lot and have some quality WRs. The biggest problem is that the Oline is mostly new to Baylor. However, their Oline is not made up of a bunch of young guys. They have had some transfers including the Barringtons from BYU.
2. The Bears only had one returning defender and he got hurt last week. Again, they have some quality transfers that came in. Some feel that Texas State’s offense was the worst thing for Baylor because they are a wide-open, pass-down-field type of offense and Baylor’s secondary is their weakness. They feel that Utah’s run-first offense is a better match for Baylor’s defense.
3. Not one of these guys picked Baylor to win, but they do expect the Bears to play better this week.
