Darren Carrington II brings so much to this team if all works out and he can stay out of trouble. What he means to the offense has been talked about here already, but what about the defense? One of the consistent critiques of the otherwise stout Utah defense has been the inability of the corners to cover some of the top flight receivers of the PAC-12.

With Carrington on the team it gives our corners the day in and day out opportunity to hone their skills against one of the very best. I’ve heard that Jaylon Johnson often is assigned to cover Carrington in practice. Can you imagine the effect Carrington’s presense will have if it means Johnson develops into that coveted lock-down corner?

Recruiting could also benefit significantly if recruits see that the Utah offense is a place where high end receiving talent can flourish. It would be the cherry on top to have Carrington on record praising the Utah program and possibly encouraging recruits to consider it over places like Oregon.

Agreed. The day in day out practice and exposure is huge for us.

I hope this is true. Imagine what practice is like when your whole team is 4 and 5 stars.

While I can see Carrington talking up the Utes (if things continue to go well for him in SLC), not sure he’s in a position to recruit against Oregon.  He got his chances there, put up some good numbers on the field, and just ran out of chances on the discipline side.
