I’m of the opinion we won’t make it back to the CFP until we do. Honestly there is a lot of parity in this league, and the press, and the public do not appreciate it at all. Oregon… lost to ASU in 2019, Stanford this year… I kind of think Oregon will win out. I know Verdell is gone, but they’re probably going to use this loss as fuel and come up 11-1.
The Big 10, Pac12, and Big12 all play 9 conference games. 8 ACC teams play Notre Dame in addition to 8 conference games and several others play instate rivalry games against SEC opponents. Oregon/Stanford is a division game that would be played regardless. The 8 game argument outside of making room for two additional alliance games won’t help the Pac12’s cause.
Hmm. I never looked at it that way. Good points. I still think the SEC still has a clear advantage, particularly in scheduling FCS teams late in the season before rivalry games, etc.
Sadly, it seems like every team in the nation is playing for #3. Bama and Georgia seem light years ahead of everyone else. Lots of games left, but damn, they look unbeatable.
