Utes lose big at USC. No longer undefeated. Bad performance. We have a brain fart game every year.
Cue “the sky is falling” posts!
If you told me before the season started the Utes would be #1 in the Pac-12 south and 6-1 after the USC game I would have laughed. The conference is tough and I would never have expected ANY team to go undefeated this year in conference play.
We are in a good place. We are in control.
The Halloween game will be AWESOME.
GO UTES!

Utah is playing with house money. We should be very happy, and hope Norris gets back soon. Dimick with another shoulder injury is upsetting. I felt Booker had a chance to show the nation he is a contender but the playcalling never gave him a shot.

The only thing is I wont be surprised if USC wins out, and im expecting us to drop one more. That means no p12CG for us. Even then though, we would have a shot at an at large ny6, or the Alamo bowl against a big name team at worst.
Winning the Pac 12 and playing in a Rose bowl would do wonders for perception among recruits. Our chance at doing that took a hit tonight, no other way around it.

After making ‘the rounds’ on various Ute boards, SLTrib/DNews etc., Ute fans are an interesting bunch. I think it has a lot to do with the zoobs and their ridiculous expectations and asinine predictions we get to hear every year. Ute fans seem to consciously be hesitant of saying anything positive about Utah athletics and Ute football in general and then become completely void of logic or reason if Utah loses? Why is that? Travis had a bad game and it’s as if some Ute fans were just waiting for it just to pile on the kid. Despite their record, USC is pretty damn good. Vegas seemed to think so because they picked them to win by -3.5, then -6.5. Not exactly a pat on the back for Utah.
I’ve seen Ute fans calling for Travis Wilson’s job as they seem to believe Chase Hansen is ready to lead? Yeah, I don’t think so! I’m not going to give up on the kid because he had a bad game, not now, not ever. The USC game plan was to stop Booker — which they did (14/62) — and make Travis beat them and other than the INT’s, Travis’ numbers weren’t much different then Kesslers. Utah has won by the takeaway and last night, lost by the takeaway. Look, he had a terrible game, that’s a given but he tried to make some plays and unfortunately that USC LB was in the right position.
A few months ago on Block U I said Utah would have three loses: Oregon (W), USC (L) and Arizona (?). Utah is still a game ahead of everyone else and controls their destiny. Win-out, Pac-12 Championship Game. Despite what some Ute fans and the idiots down south believe, Utah’s post-season aspirations are not over.
Utah got punched in the mouth last night, let’s see how they respond against Oregon State. Albeit, they may be the worst team in the Pac-12 but wouldn’t they just love to go into RES and beat the Utes. Time to go on a six-game winning streak to finish out the season and win the Pac-12.
GO UTES!

Aside from injurie(s), all we lost last night was a little bit of cushion. The number 3 ranking was fun and all that, but winning the south is what matters. Winning a Pac-12 championship would be a hell of an accomplishment. I don’t think we have the depth to get through a playoff.
In my opinion, Pac-12 Championship is the ceiling for this team. NY6 non playoff bowl game would be an outstanding accomplishment.

I don’t think anyone in their right mind would have thought the Utes would go undefeated. Every other team in the south has at least one more loss and one less win.
We are in a great position.

I had a friend say see that is why Thompson should start. I said you predicted “he who must not be named” would have three picks on Wilson?
If Thompson was starting USC hangs 70 on Utah.
