Ghost of the HEB
ParticipantHere is a selection of game-by-game points given up by our opponents this season (I’ve added Houston and updated each line with last week’s results):
– Baylor vs P4 opponents: 23, 38, 34, 43, 35, 28
– USU vs FBS opponents: 48, 38, 45, 62, 50, 50, 25
– OKState vs P4 opponents: 31, 22, 42, 38, 38, 38
– Arizona vs FBS opponents: 39, 31, 10, 28, 41, 34, 31
– ASU vs P4 opponents: 23, 30, 35, 31, 19, 24
– TCU vs P4 opponents: 27, 35, 66, 27, 30, 7, 34
– Houston vs P4 opponents: 16, 34, 20, 19, 42, 14There is FINALLY a number in one of the lines that is lower than what Utah put up (Wyoming only got 25 on USU). However, outside of that, the trend is very much alive, and it’s clear that our opponents have an easier time stopping us than virtually any other team they play. As far as the upcoming game, byu-p held a P4 team to 9 points this season. If we can’t beat that, we’re in for a cold miserable night.

ParticipantGhost. Listening to Kyle yesterday talk about Isaac and his injuries, leads me to think Rose is starting November 9th. Also he looks so tired and unenthusiastic. Which both are very understandable. Hopefully he can channel some BAMF for the week of Holy War. Go Utes!

ParticipantWe may actually make it to the end of the year with this thing almost entirely intact

KeymasterWe may also make it to the end of the season without ever knowing who QB 1 really is.

ParticipantPoints don’t tell the whole story. Obviously the missed fgs were huge. The short field and score against Houston felt like a gift.
The first score was a huge play but doesn’t feel like a trend. Just like the long bomb against TCU.-

ParticipantPoints never tell the whole story of a singular game, but a large enough sample size can be revealing. If playing offense was a class and each of our opponents was a different standardized test, we are getting much lower scores on each test than our all of our peers are getting. In other words, we’re failing the class.

ParticipantWell if I didn’t watch the game I would assume the Utah offense didn’t attend the game and the defense scored those points.
I almost feel like punting on first down gives the defense a higher probability to score soon.
