I find it interesting very little is said about the WR group other than the TEs, DS deep pass threat and Covey. Ute WR group is the biggest concern IMO. Other than Covey and DS, nobody else has much experience. Nacua seems to be a great leader and makes good plays which is awesome to have on the team.
Other than being “athletic” Ennis and Thompson have really proved nothing. ASU, UW, USC have no problem covering these guys one on one allowing them to pack the box and stop the run. Some of this has to do with the TT scheme or lack there of last year and weak WR coaching/preparation. That said, the WR group has a lot to prove this year and need to step up if Utah is going to live up to all of this hype.
Basically the WR group is no threat to good teams. Bummer Vele is hurt. He started to emerge as a solid player on track to pass by Ennis and Thompson. Interested to see if Ludwig changes things and these guys step up. Ludwig is probably relying heavy on the TEs. Hopefully someone will catch the ball on critical plays. Go Utes!
