Read many posters claiming that “Whittingham is the greatest coach Utah has ever had”. (A few cited Urban but nixed him because he wasn’t here long enough).

Sorry, but gotta call BS on all of you Whitt homies for not knowing your Utah Coaches. Compared to the best coach Utah has ever had, Whittingham’s record is very pedestrian at best. And who is this great coach you say?

IKE ARMSTRONG! 1925 to 1949. Best coach in Utah history!! 24 Seasons at the helm! Led Utah to 5 UNDEFEATED SEASONS! Along the way collected 12, THAT’S 12, Conference Championships! Is inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame!

Let’s not pretend Whittingham’s credentials stack up anywhere close to this amazing record.

I always love when someone says, “no disrespect intended”, but then goes on to be as disrespectful as H*ll trashing his target. Doesn’t play good. Listen, you line up against your opponent and play the game. It’s the way it’s always been and the way it will always be. Besides, what do you base this denigration of Armstrong on? His teams played in a different era? Weak man, very weak.

And in the next breath you are probably going to claim that Whittingham’s Utes would have run roughshod through the SEC and BIG 10 had he been in those conferences. Don’t think so. Credit Whittingham for what he has done and Armstrong for the same!!!
