What an awesome season we’ve had so far. 2004 was before my time, 2008 was amazing and this year has been great.

Was thinking about next year and what we’ll look like. We will essentially be Washington this year. Here’s why:

We will have to replace a long time starting qb in Huntley, who I think was better than Browning his Sr year. He’ll most likely be replaced by a highly rated and unproven guy in Rising, same with Eason.

Moss graduates, as did Gaskin. Both guys were the heart of the running game and the offense. We have guys that are contributors, like Washington has in Ahmed, but they aren’t quite at the same level.

We’ve had and built an elite defense, most of which will graduate. That whole side of the ball will have to be retooled, just like Washington did this year. We have guys with experience but most are not big names. We’ll need them to be next year.

Recruiting is a tough one, but if we can get over the hump this year and get a couple of impact guys, that could make a huge difference.

I’m not down on the team for next year, I’m up for the challenge. It’s just a fact that we are so Sr heavy. I also think we have a great hire in Ludwig, who will keep us on games and scheme to our strengths with a new qb and rb next year.

Great post. I think this is a very apt comparison… except for the part about browning/huntley. I think it’s safe to say that Huntley has been in a different world than Browning in terms of production. Browning was not a very good QB his senior year, and he was absolutely terrible under pressure. Huntley is the opposite essentially.

I didn’t word that very well – we agree. I was trying to say that Sr Huntley trumps Sr Browning. Both being long tenured.

An argument could be made that Browning would get the nod over Huntley for the other non Sr years.
