Bad loss last night.  I am a fan of Coach K but I am starting to worry a bit.  Stat are fun but are often misleading.  Consider this:

      Giacoletti:  Winning percentage 60%

      Coach K:  Winning percentage 57%

      Boylen:  Winning percentage 53%

Obviously K is weighed down by his two rebuilding years.  Since then he has performed admirably.  K is much better than his two predecessors BUT I do have a worry that there is a talent drain on the team.  Utah seemed to flush a number of players last year and I don’t see increased talent in its place.  Further, i don’t see a core group that gives me hope (but I am a novice basketball fan).  After a Sweet 16 and Round of 32 performances Utah has not seemed to BUILD on its recruiting base despite P12 affiliation and that beautiful facility they have created.  There seemed to be a lot of “meh” about the team this year.

Others would say that a 20 win season in a rebuilding year is good.  I agree.  BUT I cannot help but feel disappointed.  Utah should not lose to Boise State, ever, in the Huntsman Center.

I expect more from the 4th best team in the P12.

What would Giac’s winning percentage have been without Bogut?

Counterpoint:  What would K’s winning percentage be without Poeltl?  😀
