Not sure if anyone knows how Bam has progressed. But I’m hoping we can expect him to perform “as advertised” from his recruitment. Is he currently projected to start?
-
AZUTEParticipant
With no spring practice and no summer conditioning I’m afraid his progress has been severely stunted.
He may still start at one of the tackle spots just based on his size and athleticism but because of C19 I don’t think he’ll reach his full potential this next season.

Hope he does better than the few plays we saw last year. That hurt.
-
MDUteParticipant
Me too. He obviously wasn’t ready for the Washington game last year and it contributed to our poor spot. I didn’t know if he had made much progress in the prep lead up to the bowl game as well as the first week of Spring practices they were able to have before having to close everything down? But I think we are all hoping for another Garrett Bolles when it comes to Bam

MDUteParticipant
Meant to say, poor start

Agreed Tony. That’s why spring and summer we’re going to be so big for him. The speed of the game is the biggest adjustment players have to make going into a D1 program. I still he will be a serviceable OL next season but he has all PAC-12 potential he’s just not going to have the necessary time and training here at Utah to realize it.

Matthew Thomas CastletonParticipant
There IS no next season for him. He’s a senior this year and has no more eligibility. It’s this year or bust. I project him to start @ Left Tackle and essentially replace Darrin Paulo, who graduated. My five starting linemen are:
LT Bamidele Olaseni (senior)
LG Braeden Daniels (sophomore)
C Orlando Umana (senior)
RG Nick Ford (junior)
RT Simi Moala (sophomore)

Central Coast UteParticipant
He’s saying next season as in the one coming up next that hasn’t started yet. In other words, what you call this season, he is calling next season because it hasn’t been played yet.

Bam doesn’t arrive on campus until July 6th.
-
MDUteParticipant
Enough time to get ready for Fall camp? Or would you anticipate him being behind and taking the non-conf games to get up to speed and be ready for conf play?
-
OnlyuParticipant
Plenty of time. Still optional so no team stuff going on. Players are strictly in their conditioning/lifting groups for the next few weeks. Bam has every physical tool needed to be very, very good. His position group has been pushing him and even helping with extra work and Harding works well with guys like Bam so plenty to be optimistic about.
Has he or can he progress enough mentally to slow the game down so he can make the right decisions…that’s the biggest question.
-
MDUteParticipant
That’s great to hear, thanks so much! Such high hopes/expectations for Bam…fingers crossed that Harding can work his magic. Thanks again!
