ParticipantI took a couple things out of the press conference. The offense will be designed to fit talent instead of players taking years to learn a complicated system. Scalleys comments about difficulties defending Becks offense led me to believe he has the offense he wants. New excitement in the RB room. Defense still has some talent but needs to build depth. Whitt got the memo about shutting fans out of the loop by calling a press conference to answer some questions.

ParticipantNot one thing believed until proven on the field. I’ve been baffled by BS that last two years.

ParticipantI’m taking the same stance. We get this song and dance every season how this is the best fill in the blank we’ve ever had. Blah blah blah. Only to find it underperforms in game.

ParticipantExactly. I’m not believing that Whitt lets Beck run the offense that BECK wants to run, until I see it on the field.

ParticipantI was already excited about the Beck hire, but listening to him speak both about personnel and his philosophy have me even more hopeful we got a good one.

KeymasterIs Beck Canadian? Once in a while he had some kind of “hoser” accent. Or maybe upper midwest?

ParticipantHe was born in California and attended high school there so I don’t know where that little accent comes from.
I know I am being picky here but I thought it would have been better visually to have all 3 coaches up there together taking questions rather than having them come up separately. Other than that, I liked what I heard.

ParticipantIt was good but we’re not here to win press conferences. My expectation is 6 wins AND win a bowl game until proven other wise.

ParticipantIf that’s the case, Whitt needs to be gone yesterday.
Utah is a good enough program they should be shooting for 10 wins every year. This isn’t the PAC-12. Utah might not make 10 wins a year, but that should be the goal.
Anything less than that means the program is slipping and big changes are needed.

ParticipantBig changes are coming, whether we want them or not. I view this year’s shakeups as trying to prime the pump for the future without Whitt.

ParticipantI agree utesbyfive. I think after the last two years of dismal offense Whitt let Scalley get involved with the new offense. Scalley has talked before of wanting a spread offense. Nothing is a guarantee but a step in the right direction.

ParticipantMy expectations are much lower than I would have wanted but will likely lead to having more fun watching them next year.
