I just thought it was interesting that all of our RB commits this year were nowhere near 200 pounds. I checked our offer list for this year, and it is clear that only signing little guys was NOT Ganther’s intention. We offered 7 guys who weigh 200 lbs or more, but they all signed elsewhere.

Last year we offered 4 guys (including a 240 lb guy and 225 lb guy). They all signed somewhere else.

The year before that we offered 5 guys who weighed in at 200 or more. None of them signed with us.

The last RB recruit we signed over 200 lbs was Glover, and he was over 200 for all the wrong reasons (just chubby, not strong).

      🥱
Keep complaining. I’ll enjoy watching Raycine Guillory being the next great one.

Nobody is complaining. Just making an observation.

Raycine will be the same size as Zack Moss once he’s on campus and puts weight on. He’s also faster. I have no idea if he’ll be as productive as ZM but the potential is there to be that and then some.

            Yawn emoji

A quick glance at his lower body and frame says otherwise. But the board will refrain from speaking ill of recruits size/skills until they hit the portal moving forward. Also the board will continue to fantasize about this horizontal attacking quick strike offense that is coming to town that can utilize all of these 170-185 lb. players.

I remember people saying that Glover was the next great one.

Guillory is skipping his senior year of high school. He has some growing to do.

The average height for an NFL running back is 5’10”.

Quit freaking out for s**t’s sake. Everything is doom and gloom here. It’s tiresome.

You complain more than anyone. It’s just always toward other people’s opinions or observations that don’t align with yours.

How many NFL RBs are 170-189 lbs at 5’10”?

Our failure rate on plays 1-2 yards can be reflected in not having a power back that can win 1v1 battles, especially for a team that is supposed to be a power running team, is worth commenting on.

What part of my post suggested to you that I’m freaking out? Projecting much?

great observation, not sure why you get downvoted. We sorely need some bulldozer back that can push the pile and get us 2-3 yards consistently. If small and quick backs work well we would have seen more Dijon Stanley

having a big back is an overrated luxury more than a need. Better push by the O Line, especially the IOL will get you those 2-3 yards consistently. When first contact is happening in the backfield when everyone knows you are going to run the ball, the problem isn’t the RB’s weight.

It’s not the problem, but it’s part of the problem. The line isn’t always going to be able to make/hold their blocks and you need a back big enough to be capable of getting yards after contact to pick up those tough short yards.

Signing little backs isn’t a problem. Signing exclusively little backs is not ideal.

De’Von Achane is 5’-9” and 188 lbs. playing in year 2 at 23 years old. He is one of the best running backs in the NFL and I’m sure he was smaller than 188 lbs. when he was in college. Give it a break, any player at any size can be great, it is not always about size.

In fact, let’s just list a pile of difference makers in both college and the NFL that are sub 6’-0” and sub 200…

        De’Von Achane: 5’-9” and 188 lbs.

Bucky Irving: 5’-10” and 195 lbs.

Jahmyr Gibbs: 5’-9” and 200 lbs. currently after 2 seasons in the NFL

James Cook: 5’-11” and 190 lbs. currently after 3 season in the NFL

Jaleel McLaughlin: 5’-7” and 187 lbs. currently after 2 seasons in the NFL

Austin Ekeler: 5’-9” and 200 lbs. after 8 years in the NFL

Justice Hill: 5’-10” and 195 lbs. after 6 seasons in the NFL

Tyjae Spears: 5’-11” and 195 lbs. after 2 season in the NFL

Kenneth Gainwell 5’-9” and 200 lbs. after 4 seasons in the NFL

These are all active players… I am positive there would be more if we went back through NFL history.
