For those not familiar, this seems to be implying that the QB is Rising.

That’s what Alex seems to be saying. Not what I expected, but stranger things have happened. I’m sure Bentely will get his shot.

It appears Whit wants a mobile QB…Lud prefers the experience. Lud had “final say” however, how often do you go against what the Alpha leader wants? In my experience, especially when there are reasons for both directions, it doesn’t happen often.
Cam has had a very strong couple of weeks and they appear to be fairly equal. Cam with the better legs, Jake with the stronger arm. The intangible of making something out of nothing is likely going to win out. Not over yet but leaning pretty heavily to Cam I think.

Interesting.
in June I would have predicted Rising would be our starter. Then I began to hear all kinds of positive things about Bentley from people who you would think had some inside info. Now we are back to Rising.
Onlyu has never been wrong.

I thought Rising has a really strong arm? Also been told that Bentley gets flustered in the pocket more; Rising is cooler, more laid back and lets the game come to him. Better at reading the field and decison-making. FWIW
Sounds like just about the same thought process as when we went with Huntley insteaq of Troy Williams–he had the better legs, but less experience. At that time we had a new offensive line and thought that the qb might be running for his life.
As Tony Jones pointed out we have a very young team and this year is a throw away. Why not go with Rising and let him develop to push for the next two years?
If Bentley doesnt start, and still has his last year next year, wonder if he will transfer again.

I know Whitt’s a straight-shooter. As straight as they come, but this isn’t coming from him.
Maybe it’s a smokescreen… I know that year John White IV was injured and yet he led the media to believe he would be playing in the next game (I believe it was against BYU).
Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a ploy to throw off the opponent’s practicing plan.

If Bentley has a stronger arm then Rising well he could really hurt someone because Rising can bring some heat and make all the throws.
Bentley throws a beautiful ball with a tight spiral while Rising will unleash a wobbler now and again but he gets it there.
I think you need to look at who’s the most consistent and accurate.
I feel like this is choosing between Aaron (Bentley) Rogers or Brett (Rising) Farve. You really can’t go wrong.
Rising has that gunslinger mentality of Farve
While Bentley is more methodical like RogersWhit hates turnovers and as long as Rising makes good decisions with the ball and doesn’t fumble when he runs my gut is telling me he will start on nov 7th.
Just a guess pure speculation in reality I know nothing.

Personally, I think there’s a much higher chance that Peter Costelli starts looking elsewhere if Rising gets the nod, so I’m really hoping it’s Bentley.

Possibly if Rising is the starter. Same goes for Bentley if he has the option to transfer since this is essentially a supercharged scrimmage season. Agree on Constelli, I know the UteZone crew has said Costelli is all in at Utah right now. Spin it all you want, Costelli opted out of showing up to Utah in Spring to play out a possible senior season in H.S as he should, if it even happens in SoCal. Costelli’s stock has soared since he committed to Utah and playing out his senior year is going to open more doors. All speculation of course. That’s what these forums are for anyway…right? 🙂
What exactly is Utah looking for at QB? If Bentley was given some level of assurance he was going to come in and play Utah right away and now all of a sudden KW prefers a more moblie QB if all other QB qualities are equal? Again, all hear-say if the social-media hacks are correct and Rising is the guy. Either way, a good problem that Utah has never really had the option/choices of multiple higher-leverl QBs. Go Utes!
