      Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out. Pershing has not been a good president, particularly when it comes to athletics.

        I don’t know the particularities of your beef with Pershing, but I have a hard time believing that athletics suffered under his tenure. And if a guy is going to chose between being a minor league NFL team and the school’s actual reason for existing, I sure hope it’s going to be the latter. (What is athletics witout academics? Boise State.)

        He’s been faculty member at the U since I was two years old–pretty committed to the school we love. I’d prefer one of those to a careerist like Machen or Young every time.

          Since this is still on the front page, I might as well answer with what I think:  The “Utah Man/Fan” is probably the most unpopular thing he did in the sports context, followed closely by not mediating the so-called rift between Hill and Whitt. 

          I find him mostly unremarkable and clearly a laissez faire administrator.
