ParticipantA couple of updates to Utah’s status as a B1G candidate:
1. New on campus housing project was recently completed. The University expects to bring 12,000 additional on or near campus beds online in the next five years. Crazy. Utah’s days as a commuter school are numbered:
2. Total enrollment passed 35,000 for the first time in history. Fifth year in a row where the freshmen class exceeded 5,000 (over 5,500 this year). The goal is total enrollment is 40,000:
3. Total research spending jumped from $686 million in FY 2022 to a whopping $768 million in FY 2023. That is a substantial jump. University is aiming for $1 billion:
Make no mistake about it. These things are being done at the pace they are being done at to ensure Utah gets into the B1G. And Utah will get into the B1G in the next 2-5 years.

ParticipantWe don’t want to be in the B1G. We want to be among the top 24-36 teams that make up the next top tier of D1 college football. Is that conferences? a new league with divisions like the NFL? Who knows but the current conference alignment is not long for this world. It will change.

ParticipantExtra – the B1G has 3 of the 6 top spots in the nation. The other three are from different conference.
The B1G is a blue blood conference. Only second to the SEC.

ParticipantHerby plans and God laughs…extremely doubtful, given the national competition, that Utah ever gets into the B1G, however it’s configured. Yeah, sure, I’m all for it. I just don’t think it’s really feasible.

ParticipantDoubt all you want. There is a reason why Whitt says what he says and its not to troll. UCLA and Utah will be in the same conference again. Sooner rather than later.

ParticipantUtah is making their case for the B1G on the field. We are a better version of Iowa.
