USC going to be bowl eligible?

I don’t think next weeks game against UCLA is a gimme for USC and they aren’t beating ND.

I’d give them about a 51% shot of beating UCLA. 

Both teams are 2-3 in their last five, both have lost 3 of 4, UCLA has lost three straight, USC’s only win in the last four is against OSU.

ESPN predictor gives USC a 62.3% chance of victory. I’m sure they were at least that much of a favorite yesterday against Cal.

I want USC to stay just good enough to not make any staff changes, but I’m afraid they’re not.

Incredibly, I think Helton gets to start one more year (whether he finishes it is an open question). I say this because I saw an interview with Swann last week where he said more than once that “things don’t get built over night” and some other stuff about how great Helton is in the locker room with the guys (although I wonder how great the locker room will feel about him if they don’t even go bowling). The bigger picture point many are missing is that USC is currently without a university President, and I don’t think Swann wants to own a new football HC decision solo this early in his tenure. Get that hire wrong when there’s no one above you who’s got your back (or who can share blame if it doesn’t work out)? That could warm up his own seat, no matter how much of a program legend he is.

I only hope this is the case, because I don’t want USC to match the talent on their coaching staff with what’s on their roster just yet… let’s grab a P12 title or two first and then let’s take everyone’s best shot.
